BISA is in the process of building links with other associations and organisations working in the wider field of Politics, International Relations and Social Science.  

Academy of Social Sciences (ACSS)

The Academy of Social Sciences (ACSS) is composed of Individual Academicians and Learned Societies. Academicians are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors. Most of the Learned Societies in the Social Sciences in the United Kingdom are represented within the Academy.  The Academy responds to Government and other consultations on behalf of the social science community, organises meetings about social science and seminars on topics that span social science disciplines, and sponsors a number of schemes that promote social science and enhance its value to society. In February 2009 BISA was accepted as a full Learned Society member of the Academy.

British Academy for the humanities and social sciences (BA)

The British Academy is an independent national academy of Fellows elected for their eminence in research and publication. It is the UK's expert body that supports and speaks for the humanities and social sciences. Their mission is to inspire, recognise and support high achievement in the humanities and social sciences throughout the UK and internationally, and to champion their role and value. The British Academy was established by Royal Charter in 1902. 

British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES)

BASEES is the UK national learned society for the study of Russia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. The main activity of the association is the annual conference, held normally Cambridge in spring, with about 300-400 participants drawn from the UK but with many others from continental Europe and North America as well as Russia and Eastern Europe. BASEES is active on behalf of its members in dealings with government, with other associations and with individual universities.

Central & East European International Studies Association (CEEISA)

The CEEISA is an individual-based open membership professional organization which was established in 1996 to create a network of researchers in Central and Eastern Europe in the field of international studies and thus support the development of this field and the individual professional development of its members.

European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR)

The ECPR is an independent, scholarly association, established in 1970. The ECPR supports and encourages the training, research and cross-national co-operation of political scientists throughout Europe and beyond through its programme of highly-regarded conferences and methods schools, funding opportunities and its prestigious publishing portfolio.

European International Studies Association (EISA)

The EISA is a new individual membership based association, serving the International Relations community in Europe and beyond. EISA has been created by the Standing Group on International Relations.

Global Studies Association (GSA)

The GSA is a multi-disciplinary scholarly association set up in order to address the vast social, political & economic transformations of global scope which are impacting upon the world today. The GSA provides a forum for scholars to collaborate & explore shared responses to such phenomenon, particularly in the context of globalisation.

International Studies Association (ISA) 

The International Studies Association (ISA) was founded in 1959 by a group of academics and practitioners seeking to pursue mutual interests in world affairs through the organization of a professional association. The ISAÔÇÖs interdisciplinary focus, worldwide membership, and vigorous promotion of international research and education have made it the most respected and widely known scholarly association in the field of International Studies.

Nordic International Studies Association (NISA)

The NISA was founded in October 1991 to promote research, advanced study and contact among academics and practitioners in the field of international studies in the Nordic countries. The Association encourages the advancement of knowledge across disciplinary boundaries, analytical approaches, institutions and nations. NISA facilitates contacts with international studies research communities outside the Nordic area.

Political Studies Association (PSA)

The Political Studies Association exists to develop and promote the study of politics. Founded in 1950, it is the leading Association in its field in the UK, with an international membership including academics in political science and current affairs, theorists and practitioners, policy makers, researchers and students in higher education.  BISA members get a discount on PSA membership so long as they are members of both organisations.  BISA also works jointly with the PSA in the production of the Directory which is sent out to members of both organisations once a year. 

University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES)

The University Association for Contemporary European Studies provides an independent forum for informed debate and discussion of European affairs. It is directly involved in promoting research and teaching in European Studies as well as bringing together academics with practitioners active in European affairs.  Since 1969, UACES has become the largest European Studies association, with members across Europe and further afield. The involvement of people whose work or research has an emphasis on Europe, from all disciplines, is actively encouraged.

World International Studies Committee (WISC)

The WISC is a network of different national and international professional associations dealing with international relations and related disciplines. The goal of the WISC is to bring together as many academics dealing with different aspects of international studies as possible, scholars from all over the world.
